Urgent - Dogs with Medical or Emotional Needs
These dogs' stories are examples of Roxie's Fund total commitment. It illustrates how we provide for each and every dog in our rescue program. The recovery road is often filled with obstacles, both physical, emotional and monetary. Some of these beautiful dogs will be available for adoption after some love and rehabilitation.

Urgent- Saul needs your help!

We don't know where Saul came from. We do know that Saul was found
wandering the streets of Richmond all alone. He spent two VERY long months in a small kennel at the city animal shelter ~~ first waiting for his family to find him, then as he lost hope for them ever coming, hoping for a new family to call his own.

Hope was fading fast, and Saul was very scared and depressed in the shelter. However, as his time was running out, literally on his last day at the shelter, Sonja from Roxie's Fund fell for the poor scared guy huddled in the kennel, too shy and frightened to barely come to the front of the kennel for some attention. Cindy and Sonja took him out for a visit and he captured their hearts. In no time, we had signed the papers to take him into Roxie's Fund and give him a second chance. The chance at a new life that Saul so deserved.

And what a lucky break it was for everyone involved!! Away from the scary kennel, Saul was a different dog!! So happy and friendly! He loves to play chase and loves everyone he meets! This once shy guy had begun to come back to life and enjoy the fun things life has to offer.

Sadly, when we took Saul for his routine vetting, we found he had one more hurdle to jump before he got to "happily ever after". We found that Saul was Heartworm positive. A highly treatable but very costly procedure and left untreated can spread to other major organs of the body. But, like a trouper, he has been through the treatment and is now well on the road to recovery! He is recouperating nicely in his foster home with Sonja, but is still waiting and hoping for a family of his very own.

Treating Saul's heartworm condition was a "huge" unexpected expense. All
donations towards his treatment will truely be a big help in a wonderful
rescue happy ending.
